Cruisetours Extend your Cruising Vacation to the Magnificent Sights Inland

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

If you are planning a cruise vacation, you should look into cruisetour packages that many cruise lines offer nowadays. Cruisetours are the combination of a cruise, and an inland excursion that is a few days long. The inland portion takes place before or after your cruise and usually includes four or five star hotel accommodations within the select city you will be exploring further. It also includes guided tours and many inclusive activities that are only available to those who extend their vacation to the land portion.

By lengthening your vacation on land, you are able to experience more in depth the sights and culture of the city you are visiting. Staying a few days within a city before or after your cruise will provide you with the time necessary to explore that city without looking at your watch. When you are docked at a port of call, you usually have less than a day to visit that city before having to return to the ship. But with the land portion of a cruisetour, you are able to take your time exploring the many sights that you might have wished to see while in port.

Cruisetours are the way to go for those who love seeing destinations by sea and land. So give yourself the opportunity to get everything that you want out of your vacation.

Before Your Cruise

Recently, we found a new social network, Top Cruise Club designed just for cruise enthusiasts.  On Top Cruise Club, you can do everything from keeping in touch to guaranteeing that you have the best rate on your group cruise by using their “Price Investigator”.  Not only can you keep in touch with the people in your group, but you can find out if any of the other members of Top Cruise Club will be on the same sailing as you by using “Cruise Connect” and plan to meet during the cruise.

During Your Cruise

Bring a set of walkie talkies to keep in touch with your group while onboard and while visiting ports of call. It is an easy way to communicate, not to mention less expensive than using a cell phone to locate others in your party. Also, keep an eye out for deck side phones which some cruise lines offer. Either way, you’ll have plenty of fun to talk about.

Halifax

  • Founded in 1749
  • Featuring art galleries, museums, historic sites and churches, shopping, sidewalk cafés and friendly nightclubs.

Founded by: The British Government under Governor Edward Cornwallis

As your ship comes into port, a bagpiper will welcome you to Halifax, the capital city of Nova Scotia. The “City of Trees” offers the warmth and charm of a small town along with all the excitement you would expect from a great city. Peggy’s Cove, Citadel Hill, and the Acadian Country are just a few of the sights that will herald your arrival here.

One of the city’s most attractive areas is the Historic Properties Development, located along the waterfront. The charming early 19th-century wood and stone buildings here have all been fully restored. And the cobblestone streets and long boardwalks are now lined with a wonderful array of boutiques, cafés, and pubs.

Sydney
Founded in 1785
Featuring museums, historic sites, shopping malls, gambling, diving, golf, dining, beaches and a boardwalk.

Founded by: Col. Joseph Frederick Wallet DesBarres

Sydney, Nova Scotia’s second-largest city, is situated on the east side of beautiful Cape Breton Island. Once a booming center for mining and steel, this colonial seaport serves as a gateway to some of the most historic sites and scenic landscapes of the North Atlantic.

Visit the Bell Museum, located on 25 acres of landscaped grounds in the village of Baddeck, where Alexander Graham Bell, who invented the telephone at age 29, also made important contributions to medicine, engineering, agriculture, aeronautics, marine science, genetics, and teaching the deaf. Afterward, stop in the village to explore various gift shops or relax in a local café. Then board the beautiful 67-foot staysail schooner Amoeba for a sailing experience as unique and unforgettable as Cape Breton’s Bras d’Or Lakes.

Funny Questions You Will Only Hear on a Cruise Vacation

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

I know most of you cruisers out there have had your share of overhearing outlandish questions asked by other passengers on your cruise vacation. Not to mention, maybe even you yourself have asked questions that made you step back and ask “Why did I just ask that question?!” No worries, a lot of us have our “moments.” But that does not mean we cannot be entertained by them. So I have accumulated some funny questions that cruisers, new and old, have asked throughout cruise history. I hope your enjoy and have a good laugh.

And the funny questions are….drum roll please:

  1. Does the crew sleep on board?
  2. Is the island completely surrounded by water?
  3. How does the captain know where to go?
  4. When the captain is sleeping, who is steering the ship?
  5. What do they do with the ice sculptures after it melts?
  6. Does the ship generate its own electricity?
  7. What time is the midnight buffet?
  8. I am married, but can I still come to the singles party?
  9. How many fjords to the dollar?
  10. What time is the two o’clock tour?
  11. How do we know which photographs are ours?
  12. Is an outside cabin outside of the ship?
  13. Do I put my luggage out before or after I go to sleep?
  14. Does the ship have cable TV?
  15. Why don’t inside cabins have a porthole/window?

Have any funny questions you have asked, or have overheard on your cruise vacation. We at Top Cruise Club would love to hear about them. If you have any fun statements to add, please leave them in our comment area.

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

Many first time cruisers ask “What exactly is there to do onboard the ship, especially during days at sea?” It may come as a surprise to those who have never cruised, but there are many things to do while sailing. Cruise lines make sure there are enough activities to accommodate the thousands of passengers. If they didn’t then there would be bored passengers, and who would want to cruise again if their vacation was boring? Exactly – no one.

Where are the Best Cruise Destinations for your Dollar?

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

The Orient Asia CruisingMany travelers have recognized that cruising is the most economical way to travel. That is because you are provided with your meals, accommodations, transportation from port to port, and entertainment all for one price. And this is even more economical when you explore other parts of the world, like Europe, where it would cost a heavy penny to fly over and then have to pay in Euro for your hotel accommodations and food expenses. Therefore, being a passenger onboard a ship helps you to bypass the use of currency that is valued higher than the dollar. However, what happens when you step off of the ship?
